Will Divorce Force Sale of LA Dodgers?
The battling McCourts have finally agreed to a divorce settlement according to TMZ. Jamie McCourt has reportedly relinquished any claims to the baseball team, the L.A. Dodgers, which she co-owned with her husband Frank. A California judge must still approve the settlement agreement.
Under the settlement, Jamie will snag a reported $130 million, which seems like a huge amount of money. But, Ms. McCourt has a pretty lavish lifestyle. She requested monthly support payments of $995,000 and the Court did approve $637,194 a month to cover her living expenses. So, Ms. McCourt will need to watch her pennies as she struggles by on the $130 million settlement. It’s a good thing that she has already sold her Holmby Hills mansion in Los Angeles for $6.525 million.
Major League Baseball watchers are eagerly waiting for the late October decision of a bankruptcy judge to find out if the LA Dodgers will be sold. It’s expected that the judge will order the sale, and one of the richest franchises in baseball’s history will hit the auction block.
